THE MYSTERY location of a new multi-million pound hotel owned by Men Behaving Badly star Neil Morrissey has been revealed.

Last month Mr Morrissey, who also provided the voice for Bob the Builder, announced plans to redevelop a former mill in the Letchworth area.

This week it has been revealed that the building in question is Bowmans Mill in Astwick near Stotfold.

Mr Morrissey and business partner Matt Roberts will spend £7.5 million converting the property into a 24-suite hotel, with a 100-seater restaurant, a spa and fitness centre.

They have applied for planning permission from Mid Beds District Council to convert the mill and a building called Mill House, and to build a single storey block for accommodation and service areas.

The pair own a company called Hurst House, which also runs an exclusive private members' club in London and three properties - a country club, Brown's Hotel and the Three Mariners Pub - in Laugharne, Wales.

Brown's Hotel was a favourite haunt of writer Dylan Thomas and their new property also has literary links.

The mill is the former home of Peter Llewelyn Davies, one of the five brothers who inspired the novel Peter Pan by JM Barrie.

A spokesman for Hurst House said: "They would have been looking at a site in the area and the literary connection is important to them.

"Neil Morrissey and Matt Roberts are really looking forward to expanding the Hurst House hotel brand into the area."

The building was also formerly owned by millers Bowmans, who still have a mill in Ickleford.

It is hoped the hotel will open in 2007.
