The recent Poetry morning celebrating International Women's Day was very successful despite the rain. Everyone enjoyed the wide variety of poems, all of which related to the various stages in a woman's life. Some brought a smile, some were more thought provoking. The poetry was read by Dawn Costello, Jean Abbott and Dawn Bauling, who all work for Bedfordshire Libraries. The audience really enjoyed the readings. Jenny Pates kept everyone amused with the various anecdotes of her work at Dunton Community Garden, passing on lots of helpful hints about growing organically. All enjoyed the tastings of various edible greens, with the mustard lettuce proving very popular. Tales of slugs and bantams gave many a smile, and the knowledge gained from having a wormery. Everyone seemed to be eager to visit the garden on the Open Day at the May bank holiday weekend.
