VISITORS to a village farm are guaranteed a feast of fun this month.
Greenfield Farm in the picturesque village of Ickwell is now the venue for a cookery school that will give all wannabee chefs a unique insight into the culinary secrets of preparing the finest food.
Teaching visitors will be some of the biggest names in the cookery world with popular TV chef James Martin launching the school on March 16
The idea to turn their farm into a gourmet cookery school was that of businessman and farm owner Nick Burman and his wife Liz.
Mr Burman has had a varied career including his great love of farming and his rare breed livestock including Gloucestershire Old Spot pigs, Dexter cattle and Southdown and Wiltshire horn sheep.
He is able to combine business with flying his helicopter but was always determined to branch out and work with his passion for good quality food being a fine amateur cook himself.
Liz has a background in sales and marketing and has successfully run her own business for the past 20 years which includes a small livery yard.
Helping them in their cookery venture is resident chef Peter Hazzard who was formerly the food service director for Sodexho, one of the largest catering businesses in the world.
Liz says the aim of the school is: "To create a centre of culinary excellence where people with all levels of skills can come, learn, have fun and enjoy food and wine.
"We will always feature visiting master chefs and wine experts in our fully appointed kitchens.
"We will also endeavour to source local produce and the very best ingredients.
"Above all we wish to inform, entertain and develop a passion for great food and wine."
All the classes include lunchtime tastings of the food with wine so visitors to the farmhouse kitchen school have a chance to sample the work of the master chefs.
For more information about the course and how you can join in the gourmet experience call the farm on 01767 627101.
