Dr Ralph Jackson, Curator of Roman Britain at the British Museum, will be giving an illustrated lunchtime talk at Letchworth Museum on Wednesday, February 8 - doors open 12.45pm. He will talk about the superb Roman treasure found in a field near Baldock two years ago. The site and its treasures were the highlight of the BBC 2's 'Hidden Treasures' series. No booking necessary - just turn up. Reminds me about the two very old former Roman gladiators pushing their trollies around a supermarket in Gaul when they collided, the first guys says, Sorry about that, I'm looking for my wife and I wasn't paying attention to where I was going! The second guy said he did not mind and that by a co-incidence he had lost his wife and was looking for her in the same supermarket. The first chap says, Well, maybe we can help each other. What does your wife look like? The second pensioner says Well, she is 27 years-old, tall, with red hair, blue eyes and really beautiful. What does your wife look like? The first old guy replies: Does not matter, let us just look for yours!
