A LEARNING centre run by North Hertfordshire College will close at the end of January.
The college say the closure of the centre at Marymead, Stevenage, will not mean the loss of any jobs. The college has not revealed the reasons for the closure
But one student at the centre says the closure has shocked staff and those who use it.
"It is a vital part of the community in Broadwater," said Peter Burrage, 64, of Boxfield Green.
"I would say over 100 people use the centre every week and for many of them it will be impossible to get all the way to the college in the town centre."
A college spokesman said: "The college will be operating at Marymead until the end of January. All learners will have the opportunity to complete their programme at a range of community venues at the college site in Stevenage.
