Probably the latest and possibly the smallest shop in town opened its doors a couple of weeks ago in The Wynd, offering designer goods at outlet prices, including handbags, jewellery, sunglasses etc. Gucci, Dior, Armani, Joshua Taylor etc. Director Jill Walsh tells me there is also a range of other accessories and unusual gifts, ranging from 99p to £99. There is a mystic corner, free gift wrap service, coffee or tea while you wait, a customer loyalty scheme, a wish list to help partner, parents, children etc., to choose a special gift from a selection you have pre-selected. The wish maker gets a beautifully wrapped gift. The new shop is open from 9.30am to 4.30pm, Monday to Saturday (half day closing on Wednesdays). Good luck Jill with the new venture. On the subject of new retailers, I love the name of the new fish and chip shop by the railway station, The Codfather. I suppose they could have called it Station Plaice, "There's a plaice for us," or "Eel meet again," but I like their choice - sorry if these puns give you a haddock. Oh, I mean headache. I'm just 'herring' on the side of caution - perhaps he is a sole trader!
