AN ECO-FRIENDLY primary school has had its green efforts recognised for promoting walking and cycling to school.
Weston Primary School was awarded a silver plaque by Hertfordshire County Council for its travel plan.
Headteacher Kathy Willett said: "Congestion at the gates has been eased considerably and we have noticed a difference in the children's alertness in lessons."
The school has actively promoted cycling to school by encouraging children to take their cycling proficiency test and by building a cycle shelter.
The primary school has also been awarded the Basic Skills Quality Mark for the second time, recognising its high standard of literacy and numeracy.
The school was awarded a plaque by the Basic Skills Council and each pupil received a badge and a bookmark.
