CRIMINAL damage to property in Biggleswade is again causing police concern.

On Saturday night police had to deal with five incidents at various areas in the town.

Police are blaming alcohol on all the incidents as they happened at times after pubs had closed.

Cars were nearly always targets with paintwork damaged and windows and headlights smashed.

Homes were also targeted with stones being thrown at windows and signage along streets damaged.

"We carried out an operation a few months ago to try and combat this type of crime and it dropped by over 20 per cent," said Biggleswade beat manager Pc Ian Wilson.

"We will now have to reopen that operation after the incidents at the weekend because what we don't want to see is a repetition of what happened on Saturday night.

"There is no doubt alcohol is responsible because all the crimes happened after the pubs had closed and the incidents are not far from public houses.
