THE Army were out in force in Stevenage on Saturday in search of new recruits.

Members of various regiments joined the recruitment drive, called One Army Recruiting, in a bid to encourage youngsters to consider a career in the army.

And they brought along a tank and a climbing wall to give a taste of what life can be like in the armed service.

A spokesman for the event said: "It was just to make people aware of some of the different jobs available within the army. A lot of people still have the illusion that if you join the army you just run around with a rifle but there are lots of other career options."
