A GRANDMOTHER has been doing her bit for charity for this Easter. And her grandson's school has helped her raise the cash.
Sally Jarman, of Hitchin, spends a lot of her time making things to sell to raise money for Garden House Hospice, Letchworth GC, and children's charity Keech Cottage. Among the things she does is knit soft animals that hold Easter eggs.
Dan Pallett, Year 8 leader at Knights Templar School, Baldock, and Jake Jarman's teacher, set up a project to donate 1,000 Cadburys Creme Eggs to Sally. The knitted animals and eggs have been on sale in charity stores and schools across the county. And the eggs in Knights Templar staff room quickly sold out.
The Knights Templar sixth form young enterprise group Biztek 10, lead by Year 12 pupil Chris Amoss, arranged an all-night basketball event to raise money to buy the eggs.
Dan said: "A big thank you goes to Chris Amoss for the money. What Mrs Jarman and her grandson Jake have done for charity is inspirational, and of course we were more than happy to support her and the cause.
