SPEED restrictions were put in place on trains travelling over the bridge carrying the East Coast Main Line at Baldock last Thursday morning after it was struck by a lorry.
Engineers from Network Rail, responsible for all maintenance on railway property, had to close Station Road while they carried out an inspection of the bridge.
An hour after the incident the rail restrictions were lifted when engineers said the bridge was safe and had suffered no damage.
"There were some delays in services and trains were slowed down through Baldock," said a First Capital Connect spokesman.
