All lines have now reopened at Stevenage after a person sadly died when struck by a train at the station this morning.

Govia Thameslink tweeted from its Great Northern account at 12.14pm to say services are returning to normal – but passengers can still expect cancellations, delays and revisions to the timetable.

The train operator is currently anticipating disruption until at least 1pm, while Virgin Trains East Coast expect delays on its services until 2pm.

British Transport Police confirmed this morning that a person had sadly died at the scene, with officers working to establish their identity and inform family.

The fatality, which was reported to the BTP at 10.36am, is not being treated as suspicious – with file to be prepared for the coroner.
