Train delays and cancellations due to tree blockage at Arlesey

A tree is blocking the Great Northern line, meaning there are no southbound train services at Arlesey.
Due to the location of the tree, services have been moved to the ‘fast’ southbound line which doesn’t connect with platforms at Arlesey, so southbound trains cannot stop at the station. Northern services are unaffected.
The issue is impacting southbound services between Peterborough and Hitchin, and delays and cancellations are currently expected until 5pm.
Rail operator Govia Thameslink has advised passengers at Arlesey that require southbound travel “will need to travel north to Biggleswade and circulate there”.
Passengers travelling southbound to Arlesey will need to travel Hitchin and change for northbound services to Arlesey.
Specialist tree surgeons and track workers from Network Rail are on-site to remove the tree.
