AN ELDERLY man has been taken to hospital after crashing his car into a fence in Stevenage this afternoon (Thursday).

The man, in his 80s, was suddenly taken ill at the wheel with his BMW hitting a fence at Six Hills Court, located off Six Hills Way and opposite the entrance to Stevenage Leisure Park.

Emergency services were called to the scene shortly after 12pm and police have temporarily closed Six Hills Way from the Lytton Way roundabout leading to the Gunnelswood Road roundabout.

The man has been taken to Lister Hospital for treatment.
