A car ended up on its roof today after colliding with the railway bridge on Wymondley Road in Hitchin.

The driver, a man in his 30s, was taken to hospital by air ambulance for treatment, and a road closure for St Michaels Road remains in place.

Officers are currently in attendance along with Network Rail workers, who are reviewing the bridge structure.

Motorists are advised to take alternative routes where possible.
