Cyclist in 70s taken to hospital after Hitchin crash

A cyclist in her 70s was taken to hospital after a crash involving a car at a Hitchin roundabout yesterday evening.

The collision happened at about 5.20pm, at the roundabout between Bancroft, Ickleford Road and the A505 Nightingale Road – outside the Victoria pub.

A blue Toyota Aygo and a cyclist, a woman described by police as in her 70s, were involved.

An ambulance, rapid response vehicle and ambulance officer were sent to the scene. The cyclist was taken to Stevenage’s Lister Hospital for treatment.

Police closed the road until 6.30pm.
