Heartiest congratulations to William Armitage for his richly deserved award in the recent honours list.
Perhaps North Herts District Council and The Heritage Foundation will now shelve their plans to charge him for the pavement space outside his shop whilst simultaneously reducing the space for car parking. Wide pavements and street activity are partly what makes Letchworth different from neighbouring towns and all our traders should be applauded for the efforts they make to attract custom. What about an award of some sort for each of them, not a punishment.
Meanwhile, William's business and community work have been recognised nationally. The NHDC and LGCHF should think again.
