I wonder how much benefit the much delayed and over-hyped Baldock bypass has really delivered. Like most such schemes it seems to have simply moved the bottlenecks elsewhere, in this case to Letchworth Gate, where a mile long tailback at busy times now seems to be a regular feature, as cars queue to join both the A1(M) and the by pass. Surely this outcome could have been predicted, if so, was it decided that Baldock's gain should be Letchworth's loss? Or is a Letchworth bypass now planned.
