SIR - I write in response to the article in last week's Comet entitled 'Horrific home drove me to take an overdose.'
Mrs Kennet moved through a mutual exchange. This means she agreed in writing to swap homes with another tenant.
Both homes were inspected by our staff and by the tenants (including Mrs Kennet) before the exchange was approved, and both inspections were satisfactory. Once Mrs Kennet moved into her flat she found that some work needed to be carried out. This is quite usual when a property becomes vacant, even if it is only for half a day whilst the residents swap over.
The work we agreed to do for Mrs Kennet exceeds what we are required to do in the case of a mutual exchange.
