SIR - I am pleased to read that Rex Gooch is happy to have a nuclear power station in Letchworth and have the waste in his back garden. He assures us that nuclear power is far and away the safest and cleanest option. I presume that he has not heard about Chernobyl, Three Mile Island, or Dounreay.
