I note the report (30 November) that local train company First Capital Connect (FCC) seeks to deal with overcrowding by omitting station stops. They used the same reason to justify banning use of cheap tickets from London in the evening peak period. But it seems to have escaped the notice of First Capital Connect that the obvious answer to overcrowding is to put more carriages on the trains! Some 8-coach trains are overcrowded. Too many trains are even only 4 coaches! The 0905 from Stevenage is only 4 coaches and therefore doesn't have enough seats. I have a suspicion FCC plan to transfer trains to the Thameslink route. Now is the time to pressure FCC to increase train lengths on Comet Country trains.
