This proposed development at Letchworth Leisure Centre, losing two more courts, is the worst news for squash players in the area. The standard of the premier leagues at Letchworth is very high with some potential future county players coming through. The costs of hiring the courts is also in the top 10% in the county so the revenue to the leisure centre for evening use is very high. I estimate around £150-£200 per day. I am sure that is greater per square foot than the gym, swimming pool and badminton courts.
I personally have been injured for four months and only received notification of the meeting with 48 hours notice.
It boils down to a large organisation doing what it wants without consulting its most important client - the member!
Good riddance to the leisure centre as from January I will be joining another club!
