I would like to thank you for printing Dave Wyatt's letter regarding the closure of Collenswood School in last week's Comet. Mr. Wyatt echoes the views of many and as a parent of current GCSE and Year 6 pupils I feel particularly strongly that the children, parents and teachers of Collenswood have been sold down the river. There is so much about this whole debacle that defies reason.

Many questions need to be answered but I am afraid that they never will because, as Mr Wyatt also suspects, it appears that someone is about to make a lot of money from this prime piece of real estate. Is it coincidence that the problem school in Stevenage they decide to close be the one whose land has the highest value. Despite some upcoming so-called consultation meetings I fear that the majority of questions will either be fobbed off with stock answers or by-passed completely. When the going gets tough, let us quit and make a quick buck seems to be the lesson here. I sincerely hope that this is something that the Collenswood pupils are not learning.
