It was no surprise to learn that the NIMBYs of Rectory Lane are now admitting Rectory Lane is only busy for one hour a day, like every other road in Stevenage, during the school run/rush hour. If they are allowed their wish of a closed off exclusive lane, the 600 vehicles that use the lane between 8am-9am, including those carrying children to school, shall be forced to use the other roads in the Old Town. Any traffic calming shall annoy the residents of the lane 24 hours a day, although a reasonable solution, clear evidence that safety is not the priority for these selfish few who reject this proposal.
