Surrounded by beautiful countryside, the 18-hole course at Letchworth Golf Club is much more than a place to perfect your handicap.

A social hub for both golfers and visitors, the clubhouse has recently been given a modern makeover and now boasts a bright and spacious lounge with two bars, a private function room and patio overlooking the manicured course.

General manager Kevin Whitehouse hopes that the refurbishment will bring even more visitors to the club—not just to use the golf course but for social events too.

“The clubhouse used to be quite old-fashioned and stuffy, but we’ve completely modernised it throughout.

“We wanted it to be a comfortable and welcoming space where members and visitors can relax, socialise and enjoy excellent food and drink in lovely surroundings,” says Kevin.

Kevin believes that the picturesque backdrop of the golf course and the friendly and attentive service makes the clubhouse one of the best party venues in Letchworth.

“Our regular members have been really impressed with the new look of the place, and we hope that members of the local community will come and see it for themselves,” he adds.

Private parties

Offering modern facilities with excellent bar and catering services, the clubhouse is also a great event venue for private parties or celebrations.

Thanks to the renovation, it now features air-conditioning throughout with updated furniture and décor.

The clubhouse can be hired out for birthdays, anniversaries, weddings and private dinners, with capacity for up to 120 people.

“The clubhouse is regularly used by our golfing members who come in for a drink, but we’ve had lots of birthdays and celebrations held there too,” says Kevin.

“Whether it’s a small get-together with family and friends or a large event, we can tailor our services to suit your needs.

“Our customers are always impressed by our outstanding party catering services.”

Function room hire costs £150 for non-members, while members can enjoy complimentary use of the space.

Food and drink

It’s not just the interior of the clubhouse that has had a makeover either—there’s also a brand new menu.

Both club members and visitors can enjoy a range of home-cooked favourites in the relaxed bar and restaurant area, including fish and chips, beef wellington and Sunday lunch.

All of the food is provided by the dedicated in-house team led by head chef, Sam Clarke, who is happy to tailor his recipes to meet specific dietary requirements.

The bar serves a full wine list and range of sprits and beers, including the best-seller Green King IPA.

The golf course

Golfing enthusiasts won’t want to miss the chance to play golf on the 18-hole course, which is just a short walk from the clubhouse.

Established in 1905, it’s one of the top golf courses in Hertfordshire and is suitable for all abilities, from beginners to seasoned players. The course sits within mature parkland and is kept in fantastic condition.

Ideal for family days out, there’s also a driving range and six-hole par three course for new and young golfers to practice their skills before progressing onto the main course. Golf lessons are available for children and beginners too.

The club holds regular competitions, including mens’, ladies’, mixed and junior golf categories.

The golf course is open to members and day visitors throughout the week, and packages are available including 18, 27 or 36 holes with breakfast, lunch or an evening meal at the clubhouse.

House playing membership is available for £333 a year. Academy membership is £272 and social membership is £144.

Letchworth Golf Club is open from 7.30am -11pm Monday to Saturday and 7.30am-9pm on Sunday.
