I was under the impression roads were for cars, pavements were for pedestrians and verges were for grass!

But in my area, cars are parked totally on pavements, so pedestrians have to walk in the road.

Pavements free of cars are slippery and covered in mud from cars parking on the verges causing deep ruts and killing the grass. It is ugly and dangerous. Pavements were not made to take the weight of cars and are cracked and broken. Of course car owners claim they cannot find anywhere else to park, but often there are multiple parking places within 20 yards, they are just too lazy to use them and walk.
