Opening times need addressing

I completely agree with all the comments made by Mrs Deboo (Comet letters, April 12) regarding library opening times but would like to make some additional comments.

Opening hours within the libraries have badly needed adjusting but I am sure opening between nine and one would bring in far more borrowers than two till six.

As Mrs Deboo says many of the older generation shop and go to the library in the mornings and I consider this change 'ageist'.

Has a record been made of whether visitors have gone up or down with this change and if it has dropped is this a devious plot to close yet another library in line with the ones in St Albans and Letchworth?

These adjusted hours affect all the smaller libraries in Hertfordshire and might be the beginning of the end for all of them.
