End of an era. The first school built in Letchworth GC in 1903 has been destroyed.
In spite of much local opposition Norton School has now been completely demolished due to the land being sold to developers. At what price?
Slowly but surely many of the historic buildings of Letchworth are being destroyed with little or no regard to the town's true history or the original designs laid down by our town's founder and designer Ebenezer Howard. First the fire station then the Palace Cinema which was designed in the art deco era. The Garden City Hotel and many more. The Garden City Heritage Foundation is supposed to be there to safeguard our town's heritage and history, not destroy it. All these buildings that have been destroyed could have been refurbished and reused. I am very angry.
