Congratulations are in order for gardeners Sally and Jerome Worcester who have been awarded the best garden in Letchworth by North Hertfordshire Homes.
The Worcesters have been renting their home from the housing association for 12 years and say their garden is like another lounge, sometimes sitting out until 10pm in its peaceful surroundings. Jackie Harris, Neighbourhood Officer, spotted the refreshing green space during a visit and nominated it for the North Hertfordshire Homes Best Garden competition.
The couple were really pleased to win first prize of a £200 voucher. Although they have focused on the garden over the last seven years, the Worcesters are now planning for all-year round impact. Unfortunately the garden suffered from a lot of storm damage early in the year so they will be using the voucher to get new fencing and new plants.
Jerome said: “Just because we rent a place, doesn’t mean we can’t look after it. We live here so we enjoy it.”
