With reference to the article in The Comet (February 16) about the proposal to have another bar and restaurant in the High Street - why?

There are already 34 eating and drinking establishments in the High Street and this does not include the probability of another in the old Car and Commercial building or the number of public houses in the roads just off the High Street. I cannot understand Councillor Downing's comments that there is a lack of variety. I think if he walks through the High Street, he would see that he could get every type of food available - to eat in or take away. What was once a pleasant High Street to walk along is fast becoming a massive food hall.
