A few recently published letters seem to express a little cynicism about those contributors who choose to withhold their name and address. My understanding is that anyone has the right to protect their personal details and their privacy. As to the writer last week who hinted that name and address withheld persons might be frightened or cowardly then this might be nearer the truth than he realizes. I for one enjoy my democratic right to seek the publication of my views in The Comet but having spent a long professional career dealing with potentially violent people I also maintain the right to protect my privacy and security in my senior years. Other contributors may have similarly strong reasons for deciding to withhold and this ought to be respected.
