SIR - I have just returned from five days away and my bin is dripping with maggots. A horrible welcome home!
I do enthusiastically support recycling and do all the right things, but this is surely a public nuisance/health hazard? It is the fortnightly collection in warm weather that makes it so bad. I also have an infestation of fruit flies, emanating from the brown bin, into the kitchen.
My daughter, who lives on the other side of Letchworth, has also had the same. How widespread is this problem??
