I wonder how you would feel if four of you had spent two hours clearing a stretch of the River Purwell on Walsworth Common, to discover two days later that some idiot had thrown two traffic cones back in, and several other people had thrown more litter on the river banks?

Supposing someone decided to leave these items in your living room, so that you had to live with them, especially if you were a moorhen or mallard and were therefore unable to deal with the problem yourself. It is especially annoying when two swans have arrived on that particular stretch of river and are giving pleasure to many of the users of the common.

If you have not the guts to join us in our efforts to improve the common, at least do not impede or oppose us. Maybe you could join us on the third Saturday of the month when The Friends of Walsworth Common carry out their next session at 9.30am from the car park. Litter picking tools are provided, gloves and wellingtons are essential.
