I feel that I must reply to David Levett's letter in last week's Comet.
So much for independence, it looks as if we are due to see the sudden seasonal plethora of letters on local interests from sitting and prospective politicians to gain cheap publicity prior to May district council elections.
David Levett was the latest example as seen last week, he being the gentleman who stood unsuccessfully as the only true Independent in last year's elections for the Town Council (where all political parties were defeated) and recently for a Heritage Foundation governor. Sadly he seems to have abandoned his Independent ethos in a last ditch attempt to get elected elsewhere, by a sudden conversion to represent Letchworth South East Conservatives. What a pity he has not the courage to follow in the footsteps of our town councillors who all defied the politicians' jibe that independent candidates never get elected.
