When the post office at The Glebe shopping centre shut some while ago in a blaze of publicity we were given a free hole-in-the-wall banking machine outside the local newsagents.
Over the last few days the machine has changed and it is now charging £1.50 per withdrawal. This shows how vested interest and greed is undermining the needs of local people. First take away their post office, lull them into false security with free cash withdrawals, then less than a year later slap on bank charges!
This device was hailed as a way of keeping people using the local shops, well now it is cheaper to use one of the bus service providers (return fare £1.40) to get to the town and use the free machines there (while they last), and make use of the town centre shops at the same time.
How long now for the Glebe shopping centre?
