WHILE traders are up in arms about the inevitable disruption the redevelopment of Baldock's town centre is causing, it's worth remembering it's only temporary.

What concerns me more is that, when the redevelopment work is over, the town will have lost its soul and its history.

I disagree with Cllr Richard Thake, North Herts District Council's portfolio holder for planning and transport, when he says "the results will be well worth the temporary disruption".

I fear Baldock, which was once noted for the wideness of its high street, will have lost its uniqueness to modernisation.
