I cannot let the publication of last week's Comet pass without comment.

Those volunteers in our community who spend so much of their time giving opportunity for others, especially the young, to engage in the wide range of sports we have on offer in Stevenage are always appreciative of coverage in the local media. Most weeks the number of sports you cover is into double figures but last week's edition covered 14 different activities plus the article on the back page about those from our area who were going to the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne. Nine pages of sport were featured and I would like to congratulate you on this achievement.

The Stevenage Sports Council is a partner with the local authority in supporting Government plans to increase the number of people of all ages who get involved with lifelong sport and the role of The Comet in that process should be appreciated. Very well done, it was a great read!
