The future of Hitchin Town Hall has been highlighted on The Comet front pages in recent editions.

Sadly at the NHDC full council meeting on March 29 those Hitchin residents with their banner to Save the Town Hall, supported by another banner from Unicorn who use the premises, were given authoritarian treatment by the chairman. Her actions were more akin to an early 19th century magistrate and her treatment of the public was unacceptable. Most of the councillors appeared to enjoy the interruption to a highly controversial meeting.

With voting strictly on party lines, our Hitchin Conservative councillors clearly felt unable to exercise their minds and went against issues beneficial to both town and community. They will, however, be able to demonstrate their support for Hitchin, along with other councillor and election candidates, at a special meeting in Hitchin Town Hall on Monday, April 23, from 7.30pm to 9.30pm being organised by Keep Hitchin Special. Do come if you can, questions in advance can be handed in to the Hitchin Initiative Office in Churchyard with your name and contact telephone number.
