SIR - With reference to the article in last week's letters page regarding the Littlewoods store.
The Stevenage Town Centre Management Company has been in discussions with the managing agents of the empty Littlewoods store for several months, trying to persuade them to make repairs and asking for information on the future of this unit.
As you rightly point out, the store is an eyesore. Unfortunately, neither the Town Centre Company nor Stevenage Borough Council has a great deal of influence regarding the property within the town centre. Despite leaving a number of telephone messages and emails, information is still somewhat scant. However, I am advised that a redevelopment of the Littlewoods store is planned for early 2009.
