SIR - I agree with Rose Clark (The Comet August 3) when she says the Common is in a disgusting state. In over 30 years walking our dogs I have never seen it in such a mess.
It seems to me it has been in a state since the skate board park was installed, with graffiti, rubbish and damage; a bicycle in one stream and a shopping trolley in another. The notice for the new cycle track at the entrance from Grange Road has been vandalised. Most alarming of all, small fires are being lit in many places under the trees. In this climate of warm dry weather a little fire can become a major disaster in a very short time.
