Norton Common - our Rural Treasure! Letchworth Garden City is fortunate in having a jewel in its midst - in the guise of Norton Common.

Around 70-plus acres of unspoilt natural delight, it is there for us all to enjoy and those who use it will I am sure share with me the congratulations and thanks which are due to the Countryside Management Services and Friends of Norton Common for their fantastic work in managing the vegetation and trees, pruning, tidying and clearing areas to reveal the beautiful glades and walkways which run through the common. Over the past few months a transformation has taken place, with scrub cleared and pathways made more accessible, all due to their hard work.

Volunteers have worked enthusiastically, without fuss, making the area a joy to be in. Wildlife abounds, snowdrops and even daffodils turn their heads skywards - a delight to behold. A stressful day can be eased by a stroll through the greenery and we all should make use of this natural gift to us all. Norton Common is a unique treasure for us now and for generations to come.
