Chaos on A1 (M) northbound tonight after accident near junction 7

THE A1 (M) is blocked this evening northbound close to junction 7 for Stevenage due to an overturned van.

Police have closed the motorway and traffic is currently at a standstill back past junction 6 at Welwyn and also being diverted through Welwyn and Knebworth to rejoin the A1 (M) at Stevenage either at junction 7 or junction 8 at Coreys Mill.

The accident happened shortly before 4.30. The driver of the van was uninjured after the van struck the central reservation.
