Last Friday afternoon my husband and I were walking with our beautiful puppy in Hampson Park.
She was off the lead but had not strayed very far when, out of nowhere, two spaniels, one black the other honey coloured, appeared. Seeing our little dog scampering along they decided to give chase. Their owner was too far away to have any control over her dogs and they proceeded to chase our dog across Hampson Park, through the gap in the fence and out onto Lonsdale Road where she was killed by an oncoming car.
To add insult to injury the owner of the spaniels quietly slipped her dogs back onto their leads and walked quickly away in the opposite direction. I am sure she loves her dogs as much as we loved ours and wonder how she could have been so callous.
However our grateful thanks go to the lady who calmly helped my husband into her car and drove him to the vets, and when they could do nothing for our pup, drove him home again. Thank you very much. You helped restore some of our faith in human nature.
