This council is very successful in obtaining funds from external organisations to help improve facilities in the town for local people. Just two examples include £2.2 million from the Roaring Meg Development and £850,000 from ASDA, both to improve the town centre. The money from ASDA was specifically for the Queensway South work (including the yellow canopy) to improve the links from their superstore to the town square.
Finally on the issue of council tax, raised by a number of your letter writers, may I remind readers that Stevenage's council tax is in fact the lowest average total council tax per household in Hertfordshire and I feel confident that this position will be maintained this year.
Councillor BRIAN HALL, Executive Member for Resources, Stevenage Borough Council
