SIR - Further to Lizzy Seal's article in The Comet 'Over our Dead bodies', I am writing to you to express my concerns about the proposed expansion of Luton Airport. Their so-called master plan 2030 is horrendous. The airport's Spanish masters are surely taking the peseta! The two terminals and two runway proposals are just too much. The necklace of noise and congestion from Luton to Harpenden and Tring to Stevenage and all points in-between will decimate 10's, if not 100's of thousands of people's lives, imprisoning many of them in them in a living hell which used to be called their homes. The predicted increase in air and road traffic pollution will be a major contributor to global warming and will gridlock the roads for at least 10 miles around Luton. The great swathes of woodland and greenbelt that will be lost forever are dwarfed by the cost in human misery that will be caused - and all for what? Cheap, easy flights for people with money to burn and lunch in Brussels! We owe it to our children and future generations to put a stop to this madness now.
