SIR - I was driving to work one morning down Wymondley Road in Wymondley. The road is very narrow and it's bendy, so commonsense says you will take it slowly, nevertheless it is a 60mph road but it is impossible to do that. As I came round the corner there was an oncoming lorry, which happens a lot so both vehicles have to move to the sides of the roads. This is where I hit a pothole and I have never seen a pothole this big. If it was that big why did I not see it?

The pothole was filled with water and hitting the oncoming vehicle was not an option as it was a 7.5 tonne lorry. I bailed the water out and took pictures of the pothole. I complained to the council and asked for compensation (a new alloy wheel and tracking).

After a couple of months the car went in for an MOT. It failed on a bent wish bone, the tester asked if I had an impact on the front passenger side, I told him about the pothole he told me he was 99.9% sure that it was the cause. Then the council told me the road was inspected quarterly after driving down the road for months noticing more and more potholes and nothing being done.

The road is not being inspected the potholes are far too noticeable to miss. The council say that they are not negligent for the damage to the vehicle. I think they are. As I pay road tax I demand something is done and I am sure I am not the only one with this issue.
