With reference to the article in The Comet (February 16) and Helen Shaw's letter regarding the proposal to have another bar and restaurant in the High Street I would have to say that I am all for it. I do not know which High Street Helen has been walking down but Stevenage definitely doesn't have every type of food available unless the world only consists of China, Italy and India. There are no bistros, coffee shops, Mexican food, Caribbean... I could go on all day.
As for the comments from old town residents complaining about the pubs in the old town, if you look back through Stevenage's history you will find that for many centuries the Old Town has been a place for drinking and socialising.
I would suggest that you go out and enjoy the good, but limited, cuisine, and have a pint or two. Failing that, The Comet does have a very good property section. After all, the pubs have been around for longer than you
