I am writing in support of the recently submitted planning application by Tarmac to quarry sand and gravel from the land which borders Broom, Stanford and Langford. The existing Broom site has operated for the last ten years without causing inconvenience to the local community and has delivered a high quality or land restoration.
Whilst the existing site originally offered a good right of way network, it did not offer good north/south links to Stanford and Langford, I note that the submitted application proposed a similar mix of restoration which includes substantial new footpath link which will connect all the villages.
My other main reason to write and support this application is as a local resident of over 60 years, we seem to be overtaken by a small group of newcomers to the community who seem to think that their views are the only ones that matter and the rest should fall in with their objections, this indeed is not the case.
