We have just read a letter in The Comet by Karen Kirk of Letchworth regarding Christmas in Letchworth. We feel exactly the same - we lived here many years ago, but we then moved to Cheshire where we lived for 25 years in a delightful, hospitable and caring village near Nantwich.

We are now in our early 80s and have moved back to the beautifully planned small development for the over 55s. Where is the Christmas spirit in this our beautiful garden city? We visited Hitchin and what a difference! Christmas trees, twinkling lights and carol singing - so similar to many other towns in our lovely country.

Letchworth is an individual town, with beautiful housing and well planned roads. Please, by next year, could the Christmas atmosphere be revived?
