In an emergency I had to spend last week in Lister Hospital - my first ever stay overnight with the NHS.

After all the bad news we hear of our NHS, it was an astounding and, although painful, actually uplifting experience. From the moment of hurried GP reference, to the reception in A&E, onwards via the support services into the hands of the ward 8A nursing staff, thence to the surgical team and back to the aftercare of the nurses and specialist nurses and volunteers, the whole process was one of utmost professionalism, blended always with warm personal encouragement.

Please find space to print our thanks and admiration in the largest possible type. When it matters, we could not be in safer hands.
